Papiano is a picturesque village located in the region of Umbria, Italy, nestled in the rolling hills between Perugia and Todi. Known for its charming medieval architecture, Papiano’s history is deeply rooted in the agricultural and rural traditions of Umbria, a region often referred to as the “green heart” of Italy. It is a hamlet or ‘frazione’ of the Comune of Marsciano, in the Province of Perugia (PG).
The town is located at 210 m above sea level, 8 km from the regional capital, Perugia. The town is divided into three parts: the oldest (with the Belltower) is located on the hill and is called “Sudentro”, while at the foot of this, around he main piazza, is called “Borgo”. The third part is around 1km away, where there are more modern houses, called “Papiano Stazione”, developed around the Ferrovia Centrale Umbra station and close to the state road that runs across the plain towards Marsciano.
